Understanding Aetna's 2026 ACA Marketplace Exit
You may have heard that CVS Health, Aetna’s parent company, has decided Aetna will no longer offer individual health insurance plans on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplaces across the nation, starting with the 2026 plan year.
If you currently have an Aetna individual health plan purchased through the ACA Marketplace (e.g., HealthCare.gov or your state’s exchange), this means your current Aetna plan will likely not be available for renewal after December 31, 2025.
Your existing Aetna ACA coverage is expected to continue through the end of 2025, provided you continue to pay your premiums.
While this change might seem daunting, it’s important to know that you will have other health insurance options for 2026. The Open Enrollment Period (typically November 1, 2025 – January 15, 2026) will be your opportunity to select a new plan from different insurance carriers available in your state.
